Denver Jury Awards $7.1M for Pedestrian Injury Case

On October 1, 2024, a Denver County jury awarded Barrios Wool client Deysi Cari $7.1 million for injuries sustained when a car hit her as she was crossing the street.
Ms. Cari suffered from a dislocated ankle, a dislocated knee, and hit her head. In less than a week, symptoms of a concussion — or, mild traumatic brain injury — began to manifest themselves. Ms. Cari endured four surgeries on her knee and ankle over a period of three years. And, despite her and her doctors’ best efforts, her brain injury did not heal.
Ms. Cari thanks the jury for the 7 days they heard her case and the careful attention they gave to it.
Judge Dorancy entered judgment last week for $9,539,417.60.
